To us, he is known as a passionate radio amateur, with a dedication to low frequencies. Together with the team from the DL0HOT club station, he erected a large Marconi antenna, and laid out two long earth loops. His outstanding 137 kHz signals have been received all around the world, and VLF and SLF transmissions from 8.27 kHz down to 170 Hz (!) were detected and decoded hundereds of kilometers away. I will not forget our 5.17 kHz EbNaut QSO on July 7, 2021.
His final experiment was a parallel transmission of two VLF carriers on the two earth antennas. At the time he died, the upper carrier on 8270.00625 Hz was still on air. It looks almost as if his signal has accompanied him on the lonely way to the other side.
