Для новичков, на всякий случай.
Сам до сих пор путаюсь в этих сокращениях...
Thanks Lawrence, KL7L, for pointing out that the abbreviations for the FST4Wxx modes came originally from Australia. In fact, I was the culprit!
The abbreviations were first mooted in October, 2020, on this forum.
It came about because, at that time, I was writing daily reports, which mentioned these modes perhaps some twenty or thirty times. It became very tedious to keep writing the long versions. Especially when a shorter version was so obviously apparent. The redundant group "ST4" was simply dropped and seconds became minutes. Here is the full list:
Long version Abbreviation
FST4W 1800 FW30
FST4W 900 FW15
FST4W 300 FW5
FST4W 120 FW2
FST4 1800 F30
FST4 900 F15
FST4 300 F5
FST4 120 F2
FST4 60 F1
FST4 30 F/2
FST4 15 F/4
The last two would be seldom used on the MF/LF bands.
The use of abbreviations is a long held Amateur Radio tradition.
